45,000 schools, madrasas got multimedia class rooms: Palak

A total of 45,000 primary and secondary schools and madrassas have got technology-based multimedia classrooms so far as part of government's initiatives to build a knowledge and technology-oriented society.

"The government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has a plan to ensure reliable and secure information and communication technology (ICT) for sustainable development," said State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak to BSS on Monday.

He said the government also installed 2,901 Sheikh Russel Digital labs across the country and installation of 1,000 more is underway.

Palak said "We have prepared multimedia digital contents for class-I to class-X, while results of public examinations were published through website and SMS."

According to an official of the ministry, the Access to Information (A2I) Programme of the Prime Minister's Office along with the ICT Division has been working to materialize the goal of Digital Bangladesh.

He said the government installed more than one multimedia class rooms in 23,500 secondary schools, in 5,500 madrasas and 15,000 primary schools across the country.

The official said as part of the digital campaign the electronic filing (e-filing) system in 2,530 public offices have already started along with other digital services.

With time befitting initiative by the Prime Minister's ICT Affairs Advisor Sajeeb Wazed to materialize digital Bangladesh within the vision 2021, currently, digital eco-systems have been developed in the country and the export volume of ICT products rose to USD 800 million, the state minister said.

He said the government announced 10 percent cash incentive for exporting ICT products and IT services along with tax holiday for IT/ITES organizations until 2024 and import duty reduced for 94 ICT products.

Besides, training being provided to teachers increased their skills and facilitated the use of their creativity in preparing and delivering lessons under the ICT division and the A2I.

"Under the supervision of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the international IT expert Sajeeb Wajed Joy, we have been able to transform the digital Bangladesh today into a reality," Palak added.
