44 Covid-19 cases, one death reported in 24 hours

Bangladesh has registered 44 new cases of Covid-19 in a day, taking the total caseload from the disease to 1,952,109.

The government recorded one death in the 24-hour count, taking the total toll from the disease to 29,124, according to the latest data released on Monday, reports bdnews24.com.

As many as 6,234 samples were tested across the country, for a positivity rate of 0.71 per cent.

Among the eight divisions, Dhaka recorded the highest number of cases, with 37 infections.

Another 590 people recovered from the illness nationwide, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,889,230.

The latest figures put the recovery rate at 96.78 per cent and the mortality rate at 1.49 per cent.

Globally, over 498.90 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus and 6.17 million have died, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University

Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.
