41st BCS preliminary test on scheduled date

The High Court (HC) on Tuesday dismissed a writ petition seeking postponement of the 41st Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) preliminary examination.

As per the HC order, the examination will be held on the scheduled day on March 19 (Friday).

After knowing the opinion from the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) on Tuesday, the HC bench comprising Justice Md Khasruzzaman and Justice Md Mahmud Hassan Talukder passed the order.

Confirming the matter, Deputy Attorney General Bipul Bagmar, who represented the state before the court, told The Financial Express that the examination would be held in due time as per the HC order.

Advocate Rabiul Alam Budhu appeared for the writ petition before the court.

Earlier, several job seekers staged human chains in front of Jatiya Press Club and at the Dhaka University demanding postponement of the 41st BCS preliminary examination.

The job aspirants do not want to take part in the exam due to a recent spike in Covid-19 cases.

This time 475,000 job aspirants have already applied for 2,166 cadre posts. The test is set to be held in eight divisional cities.
