415 BD nationals return home from UAE

Some 415 Bangladeshis returned home from United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Monday morning, according to Welfare Desk at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

They were stranded in the oil-rich Middle Eastern country following coronavirus pandemic. 

A special flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carried the passengers from Dubai. It landed at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital at 10:15am.

Officials at the welfare desk said the returnees underwent necessary scanning at the airport.

However, because of Coronavirus pandemic, many Bangladeshis, working abroad remain stranded and jobless. Some of the destination countries requested Bangladesh government to return its stranded workers.

As of May, more than 30,000 Bangladeshi workers returned home from countries including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Maldives and Singapore.
