Some 413 Bangladeshis, mostly workers, will return from Bahrain on Wednesday night, according to Bangladesh embassy in Manama.

The returnees include 40 deportees, 50 patients and 11 women. A special flight of Bangladesh Biman will carry the passengers.

Besides, eight dead bodies of Bangladeshi nationals will also be brought back on the same flight, the sources added.

The embassy has supported 18 workers with full tickets and 32 with partial cost of tickets from Wage Earners’ Welfare Board.

In April, Bahrain sent 347 Bangladeshis workers, of which 300 workers were released by the Bahrain government in March as part of the move to keep its jail free from the spread of coronavirus.

The other 47 were repatriated voluntarily under the general amnesty declared by the Bahrain government recently.

A good number of Bangladeshis, living in Bahrain without valid documents, have already taken amnesty facilities to get regularisation in the oil-rich country.

Embassy officials said approximately 40,000 Bangladeshis became undocumented residents in Bahrain in different ways. Majority of them are expected to get regularisied while some of them will return home under the grace period facilities.

About 200,000 Bangladeshis are living in Bahrain. Most of them have been working in the construction sector.

Bangladeshis are also engaged in sectors like cleaning, driving, agriculture and plantation.
