Some 400 kilometres of footpaths were renovated in the two city corporations of the capital in the last 10 years, according to statistics placed in Parliament on Tuesday.

"Some 193.71 kilometres of footpaths were repaired by Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 212 kilometres by Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) in the last 10 years," said Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Md Tajul Islam, reports UNB.

Of them, 62.58 kilometres of footpaths were renovated under the DSCC while 80 kilometres under the DNCC in the last three years, he said.

The minister placed the statistics replying to an unstarred (written) question from treasury bench MP M Abdul Latif (Chattogram-11).

Tactile tiles that are friendlier to visually impaired persons were installed on the renovated footpaths, he said, adding that repairs and development of footpaths are being carried out on a regular basis by the two city corporations. "It's an ongoing process," said Tajul.
