35 prisoners died behind bars in first seven months: Report

A total of 35 prisoners died in different jails across the country in the first seven months from January to July of this year, according to an independent rights body.

Among them, 23 were undertrials and 12 others convicts, Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) said in a report recently.

In the past year, the number of deaths in jail custody was 74 - 45 undertrials and 29 convicts, the rights body also revealed.
