A 30-km tailback has been created on the Dhaka-Rajshahi highway in Sirajganj, causing immense suffering to home-bound people, reports UNB.
Officer-in-charge of Bangabandhu Bridge West Police Station Syed Sahid Alam said there was a huge pressure of vehicles on the highway following mad rush of home-bound people.
As a result, there was a 30-km snarl-up on the highway stretching from the roundabout on the west side of the bridge to Hatikumrul in Sadar, Raiganj and Kamarkhand upazilas on Sunday morning, he said. “Vehicles were moving at snail’s pace,” he said.
OC of Hatikumrul Highway Police Station Akhtaruzzaman said the tailback was created on the highway on Saturday morning and the situation was yet to return to normalcy.
