30 Covid-19 cases, no death reported in 24 hours

Bangladesh has registered 30 new cases of COVID-19 in a day, taking the overall tally of infections to 1,952,674.

The government recorded no deaths in the 24-hour count, keeping the total toll from the disease unchanged at 29,127, according to the latest data released on Friday, reports bdnews24.com.

As many as 4,754 samples were tested across the country, for a positivity rate of 0.63 per cent.

Among the eight divisions, Dhaka logged the highest number of cases, with 25 infections.

Another 326 people recovered from the illness nationwide, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,894,146.

The latest figures put the recovery rate at 97.05 per cent and the mortality rate at 1.49 per cent.

Globally, over 512.47 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus and 6.23 million have died, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.
