22 private university students land in jail

Denying bail a Dhaka court on Thursday sent 22 private university students to jail in two cases filed over vandalism and attacks on police.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Satyabrata Shikder passed the order after police produced them before his court on expiry of their two-day remand, rejecting bail petitions filed by their lawyers, reports UNB.

Earlier on August 7, another court placed them on the remand.

The accused are students of East West University, North South University, South East University and Brac University.

On Monday, students of the private universities clashed with police while demonstrating against the attack on students during their movement for safe roads in the city.
