18 additional judges sworn in

18 additional judges, who were appointed to the High Court Division of the Supreme Court for two years on Wednesday, were sworn in on Thursday afternoon.

Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain administered the oath at the Supreme Court Judges' Lounge around 3:00pm, reports UNB.

The 18 HC additional judges are Md Abu Ahmed Jamadar, International Crimes Tribunal member; MdMostafizurRahman, Additional Secretary to the Law and Justice Division; FatemaNajib, Narsingdi District and Session’s Judge; MdQuamrulHossainMollah, Metropolitan Session’s Judge of Dhaka; SM KuddusZaman, District and Session’s Judge of Dhaka; MdAtoarRahman, Divisional Special Judge of Dhaka; Deputy Attorneys General Khijir Hayat, ShashankaShekharSarker, SM Moniruzzaman, SardarMdRashed Jahangir and KhondakarDiliruzzaman; and Supreme Court lawyers SM Abdul Mobin, Mohammad Ali, MahiuddinShamim, MdReazUddin Khan, MdKhairulAlam, Ahmed Rasel and Dr KM HafizulAlam.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Law Ministry published a gazette notification on their appointment.

It said the President made the appointment exercising his power under section 98 of the Constitution.
