The government on Monday published the first list of about 1.32 million students qualified for college admission in the academic session of 2019-2020.

A total of 1,318,866 applicants have been named in the first list, said Dhaka Board College Inspector Prof Md Harun-Ar-Rashid.

The qualified students will have to confirm their acceptance through texts to the selected colleges by June 18. They were instructed to be admitted to the colleges between Jun 27 and July 30.

About 1.4 million aspirants applied online and through SMSs seeking admission to colleges. Of them, over 97,000 failed to be qualified, according to Rashid.

The second and third merit lists will be published on Jun 21 and Jun 25.

Over 1.7 million students have passed the SSC and equivalent exams. The students were allowed to apply to a minimum of five colleges and a maximum of 10. The aspirants are being placed in a college on the basis of their merit and choice of colleges.
