A Gazipur court has sentenced 13 people to death for a murder in 1995.
Gazipur Additional District and Sessions Judge – 3 Md Fazle Elahi Bhuiyan announced the verdict on Monday.
Seven of the convicts were present to hear the verdict while the remaining six are absconding, said court additional public prosecutor Maqbool Hossain Kajol.
Each of the convicts has also been fined Tk 10,000, Kajol said.
The case dossier, reports bdnews24, says the convicts attacked and killed Billol Hossain Bilu at Kaliganj’s Ishwarpur Village in 1995. Bilu was 45-years-old at the time.
His wife filed a case over the murder at Kaliganj Police Station. The court indicted 13 suspects based on a police investigation.
