At least 12 people are reportedly missing since Friday evening after a trawler capsized in Turag River of Ashulia.
Fire-fighters from Tongi and Ashulia fire service stations have been engaged in rescue and search operations with help from locals of the area, said Shahab Uddin Madbar, Ashulia Union Parishad Chairman.
The trawler with 25 people on board capsized in the middle of the river after being hit by a sand-laden watercraft while it was moving towards Rustampur in the evening, according to witnesses.
All the passengers fell in the water, they said.
Later, locals rescued 13 people from the river while 12 others still remained missing, UNB reported.
Officer-in-charge of Ashulia Police Station Rezaul Haq Dipu said they are working to trace the identities of the missing.
