The government on Tuesday approved 11 development projects involving a total cost of Tk 375.07 billion.
Presided over by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, a meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) approved the projects - seven new and four revised.
After the ECNEC meeting, Planning Minister MA Mannan said that Tk 360.57 billion of the total expenditure will come from the internal resources and Tk 14.50 billion as project assistance from the external resources.
He said the meeting revised the 4th phase of the health, population and nutrition sector programme (HPNSP), which will be implemented in June 2023.
The ECNEC approved another project of the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority (BHTPA) titled "Construction of Primary Infrastructure for Sheikh Hasina Institute of Frontier Technology" to be set up at Shibchar upazila of Madaripur district by December 2026.
Under the project, the BHTPA would establish the country's first zero-waste, green, clean and sustainable campus to be blended with the modern mode of education and innovation culture, said the minister.
The other approved projects included Infrastructure Development of Mongla Commander Flotilla West at Tk 6.99 billion, Modernisation of Chattogram, Cumilla and Mymensingh (Trishal) military farms at Tk 2.63 billion, Upgrading Ashuganj River Port-Sarail-Dharkhar-Akhaura Land Port Highway to 4-lane National Highway (1st revised) at Tk 57.91 billion, Integrated Sanitation and Hygiene in 10 Priority Cities of Bangladesh (Integrated Solid and Human Waste Management) at Tk 5.59 billion, Upgrading Dhaka Water Supply Network (1st revised) at Tk 37.80 billion.
It also endorsed some other projects including Reduce traffic congestion in Dhaka South City Corporation's affiliated areas through waste removal and management, procurement of modern vehicles and equipment used for road repairs and installation of mechanised parking at Tk 3.33 billion, Construction of hostel for doctors, officers, senior staff nurses and trainees working at Azimpur Maternal and Child Health Training Institute, Dhaka at Tk 643.4 million, Important Rural Infrastructure Development of Gopalganj District (2nd revised) at Tk 18.28 billion, and Smart agriculture card and digital agriculture (pilot) project at Tk 1.08 billion.
