A total of 1,075 buses were registered in the last eight months from January to August 2021, according to the country’s transport regulator.
Of the buses, 849 were registered in Dhaka during the period, statistics provided by the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) showed.
Earlier, the number of registered buses across the country witnessed a drastic fall in 2020 compared to that of 2019.
A total of 2,395 buses were registered in 2020 while the number was 3,558 in 2019, the BRTA data showed.
As many as 2,755 buses were registered in 2018 while 3,760 buses in 2017 and 3,833 in 2016 were registered with the transport regulator, according to the statistics.
