The government has decided to apply 100 per cent merit-based admission policy this year at the colleges across the country.
After completing the merit list, additional students can get admission under quota facility.
The decision regarding the admission policy was taken in a meeting of education ministry on Monday, reports UNB.
Secondary and Higher Secondary Division secretary Sohrab Hossain presided over the meeting.
The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) results will be published on May 6.
The admission for Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC) will start on May 13 and continue till May 24.
Last year 89 per cent was admitted under merit list and rest were admitted under quota facility in HSC examination.
Like previous years an applicants can apply through on online and SMS at minimum 5 and maximum 10 colleges or madrasas which will cost Tk 150.
In each mobile SMS one application will be possible which will cost Tk 120.
Once the merit list is exhausted, additional students can get admission on the basis of following quotas: freedom fighter quota - 5 per cent, divisional and district town quota - 3 per cent, offices under education ministry - 2 per cent, BKSP - 0.5 per cent and expatriate - 0.5 per cent.
The admission fees of private educational institutes will be Tk 5,000 in the Dhaka Metropolitan City, Tk 9,000 in Dhaka district for partial MPO-listed institutes (Bangla Version) and Tk 10,000 for English version.
Government institutes can't fix more than Tk 3,000 as development fee.
For all monetary transactions related to admission money receipts will have to be provided.
Besides, admission fee will be Tk 1,000 in municipalities and rural areas, Tk 2,000 in district town area, except Dhaka no other metropolitan areas can fix more than Tk 3,000 for admission.
