1000MW power supply to national grid this month

Around 1,000MW electricity will be added to the national grid during the month of holy Ramadan.

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid made the disclosure while speaking as the chief guest at a view-exchange meeting with the City's Shop Owners Association at Bidyut Bhaban in the city on Thursday.

"We are committed to ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity during the holy month of Ramadan as some 1,000MWpower will be added to the national grid this month," he said.

Some 10,986MW power was generated on Wednesday in the country, while the generation capacity reached to 16,046MW. The government is putting in its relentless efforts to ensure adequate power supply across the country, he added.

He also directed the Petrobangla authority to increase supply of natural gas to 1,000mmcfd from 950mmcfd aimed at generating electricity smoothly, reports BSS.
