Covid-19 deaths among youth rising, DGHS says

Deaths in Covid-19 among young people have seen rising in the country, creating a new concern.  

A total of eight people aged between 21 and 30 died of Covid-19 on Saturday,  while another young person aged between 11 and 20 died of Covid, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

“It’s a matter of concern and we fear that the Covid-19 deaths among young people continue to rise,” DGHS spokesperson Dr Nazmul Islam said in a media briefing on Sunday.

Such deaths have raised a concern and health experts can now work to find the reason why deaths among young people are rising, he added.

At least 494 people aged between 21 and 30 died of Covid-19 as of Saturday since the first case of coronavirus disease was detected in March last year in the country, according to the DGHS.
