Singer Sabah Tani no more

Popular singer Sabah Tani was found dead at her residence in the city's Uttara area on Monday morning.

Actor Nayeem, also Sabah's cousin, said the singer had been living at the residence along with her mother. She was alone at the house on Sunday night as her mother went to her sister's house in New Eskaton area of the city.

As Sabah could not be reached over her mobile phone from Sunday night, relatives entered the house along with the caretaker in the morning breaking open the door only to find her lying in the bathroom, he said.

Later, they took her to LabAid Hospital at Dhanmondi where doctors declared her dead, Nayeem said, adding that she had long been suffering from hypotension.

Contacted, Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (Uttara Division) Nabid Kamal Shaibal said they came to know about Sabah's death due to low pressure. "But family members didn't inform us of the matter," he said.

Sabah was a popular singer of the 80s and 90s. She also performed as the judge of Sylhet selection phase of Close Up-1: Tomakei Khujchhey Bangladesh, a reality TV show, in 2012.

Among her songs "Kichhukkhon'' and ''Kono Bhaisakhi Ratey Jodi'' became most popular, reports UNB.

She also earned fame for performing on the stage and singing on Bangladesh Television.
