Int’l Sufi Festival' starts from Friday

A three-day International Sufi Festival will begin from Friday at the academy's Nandan Mancha, a floating stage on the premises of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in Dhaka.

The inauguration ceremony of the musical festival will be held at 3:30 pm, while a seminar on the Sufi festival music will also be arranged on the second day (Saturday).

India, Iran and Turkey and Bangladesh will participate in the musical festival with their traditional music with the theme 'Music for Unity'.

A total of 119 (70 from Bangladesh and 49 from the other countries) singers will perform in the festival.

On the other hand, 15 troupes from home and abroad are on the performance list while Iranian Jairob, a Turkish team and two Indian teams including Ruhani Sisters, will also perform, reports UNB.

The music festival will begin with the performance of traditional dance while popular Bangladeshi band 'Joler Gaan' will appear as the last performer.

The festival will remain open from 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm every day. It will run until February 25.

The entry is free for all.
