5 feel-good movies to watch on mental health day

Mental health is equally as significant as physical health. Surveys have revealed that sharing problematic experiences with others boosts health and well-being.

Supporting mental health is not about comparing yourself to others. Rather it can be done by establishing a warm and comfortable space for them and being considerate and open-minded. At the same time, you listen and withhold yourself from unwanted advice. Comparing how you handle something with how your friend handles it diminishes their feelings and creates more devastation.

World Mental Health Day is being observed today around the globe. Spreading awareness regarding mental health is the prime motivation for this day. Along with other things, make time for movies that give mental health lessons. Here are 5 movies you can watch today with your family to better comprehend mental health issues and entertainment.

This movie is all about mental health, well-being and the journey of Kaira's self-development and healing process. Being a cinematographer, Kaira (Alia Bhatt) deals with desertion issues, anxiety attacks and insomnia. And in that mean point, the protagonist Jug (Shah Rukh Khan), a psychiatrist, hits the floor. His unconventional therapy technique made us realise it's okay to share problems to get rid of them, and it's not taboo.

Based on Matthew Quick's novel The Silver Lining, this movie shoutouts its two protagonists Bradley Cooper who recently has been released from a mental hospital and Jennifer Lawrence, a widow, dealing with their mental health. This rom-com genre movie taught us to redefine mental illness.

Heroin

Based on the glamour world, the main protagonist of this movie Mahi (Kareena Kapoor), has bipolar disorder. Rather than hailing mental well-being, this movie portrays how depression can make a picture-perfect lifestyle into a downfall.

Chhichhore

The moral of this movie is - suicide is not a solution. Starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Shraddha Kapoor in lead roles, this movie points out how parental, and peer pressure can lead to depression. Being a teen parent, Sushant glances at his college days and depicts the story of how his circle, once termed as losers, turned things around.

Anjaana Anjaani
