Why shutting Lakehead School not illegal: HC

The High Court on Thursday issued a rule asking the government to explain why shutting down three branches of Lakehead Grammar School in the capital will not be illegal.

A bench of Justice Syed Mohammad Dastagir Hossain and Justice Ataur Rahman Khan issued the rule after hearing three separate petitions in this regard.

Barrister Rashna Imam filed three writ petitions on behalf of Khaled Hasan Matin, new owner of the school and guardians of 12 students of the school, reports UNB.

Earlier on November 6, the government suspended the functions of Lakehead Grammar School- Dhanmondi branch and two other branches in Gulshan on charges of patronising religious extremism and militancy.

According to the Education Ministry the school was running without approval from the ministry.
