Unknown people ‘lead away’ Lakehead School owner

Unidentified people have reportedly led away the owner of Lakehead Grammar School from his office in Dhaka.

Sources in the school and close to owner Khaled Hassan Matin said this on Saturday.

According to an official of the school, seven to eight persons in plainclothes went to Matin’s Gulshan offices during the daytime and led him away.

Informing this to bdnews24, Gulshan Police Inspector Salauddin Miah said, “Police immediately began investigating the scene after being informed.”

But, he noted, the school has not filed a formal complaint as of Saturday evening.

The official also said the law-enforcers are searching for Matin’s whereabouts.

Earlier in November, the education ministry ordered the school to be closed over charges of harbouring militancy and inspiring extremism.

The apex court of the country later ordered the school to be reopened with a new board of directors composed of the Dhaka Divisional Commissioner as chair and military officials as board members.
