ULAB appoints Prof Shamsad Mortuza as Pro-VC

Head of the English and Humanities Department of University of the Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) Prof Dr Shamsad Mortuza has been appointed as ULAB Pro-Vice-Chancellor for a four-year period.

ULAB Chancellor and President M Abdul Hamid issued a notification in this regard on September 6, a ULAB press release said Monday.

Earlier, professor (on leave) of Dhaka University’s English Department, Mortuza, joined the ULAB English and Humanities Department as a professor and head of the department on August 1, 2016.

He obtained bachelor and master degree from Jahangirnagar University (JU) English Department. As a Fulbright scholar, Dr Mortuza pursued his second MA in American Indian Studies from the University of Arizona and obtained PhD degree from Birkbeck College, University of London, reports BSS.

Earlier, Prof Mortuza joined Jahangirnagar University as a lecturer in 1994.
