A three-day ‘Non-fiction Book’ fair has started at the premises of Dhaka University (DU) campus today (Sunday).

DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman released colourful balloons at around 10:30 am at the Business Studies Faculty building to mark the start of the programme.

Daily Bonik Barta and Faculty of Business Studies have jointly organised the fair for the fourth time.

Dean of DU Business Faculty Shibli Rubayat Ul Islam, Editor of Bonik Barta Dewan Hanif Mahmud, Managing Director and CEO of Agrani Bank Mohammad Shams-Ul Islam were also present among others.

Prof Akhtaruzzaman led emphasis over the ancient books which have been shaping the world for generations. He said modern cultures are developed because of these 'non-fiction' books, so gaining knowledge from them is important.

He also requested the teachers of the faculty to emphasise on students’ technical and practical knowledge.

The professor visited all the 21 stalls of the participants (mainly publishers and research organisations) after the inauguration, BSS reported.

The fair is open for all from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm till October 2.
