The project has been implementing under ‘Extension and Renovation of Network and Automate Office Management System’.

It is a sub project of the Higher Education and Quality Enhancement Programme (HEQEP) financed by World Bank (WB).

Once the project is implemented, internet services here will be better than any university in the country, said RUET Computer Centre Director Prof Bashir Ahmed is heading the project as its chief coordinator.

He added that after completion of the project the internet speed will become 10gps on the campus next year while it is now only 250 mbps.

Administrative sources said there are broadband lines at the university administrative building, library, computer science building, and central computer centre building.

The university accounts for 3500 teachers and students, of whom highest 500 get free access to the internet on the campus.
