Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate the ‘Bangladesh Bhaban’ at the Visa-Bharati University at Shantiniketan in the Indian State of West Bengal on Friday, said an official release.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be present on the occasion.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid also left Dhaka Thursday for Kolkata to join the inaugural function of Bangladesh Bhaban.

The Bhaban has a modern theatre, display room, a large library for books on literature, culture, history and liberation war of Bangladesh and India, in addition books on Bangladesh-India relations.

Besides, two big murals of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Biswa Kabi Rabindranath Tagore have been set up at the two ends of its entrance.

On Saturday, the prime minister will go to Kazi Nazrul University at Asansol where she would be conferred with the honorary DLitt Degree at a special convocation there.

Secretary of Secondary and Higher Secondary Division Md Sohrab Hossain and Chief Engineer of Education Engineering Department Dewan Md Hanjala also left city for Shantiniken to oversee the overall preparations of the inaugural.

The prime minister and the education minister are scheduled to return home on May 26, reports BSS.
