NSU organises discussion, cultural programme marking 102nd birth anniversary of Bangabandhu

North South University (NSU) organised a discussion session and a cultural programme to celebrate the 102nd birth anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children's Day 2022 on Monday.

The event was also broadcasted live on North South University's official Facebook page, says a press release.

Posts, Telecommunications & Information Technology Minister Mustafa Jabbar attended the event as the chief guest.

Chairman of Board of Trustees (BoT), North South University Azim Uddin Ahmed and BoT Member Rehana Rahman were present as special guests.

The session was chaired by NSU Vice-Chancellor Prof Atiqul Islam and moderated by the university’s Public Relations Office Director Mr Jamil Ahmed, the release said.

Speaking as the chief guest minister Mustafa Jabbar said, “I do not believe in the conventional education system, the way we have read and written, the world is not in that same place. Now a digital transformation of education is needed.

“Universities need to encourage students to innovate. Their inventions need to be protected and commercialised through intellectual property.”

The guests then handed over prizes among the winners of a drawing competition organised on the occasion. At the end of the discussion, a cultural programme also took place.

Among others, NSU Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor M Ismail Hossain, NSU Treasurer Prof ABM Rashedul Hassan, School of Business & Economics Dean, NSU Prof Dr Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, School of Humanities & Social Sciences Dean, NSU Prof Dr Abdur Rob Khan, School of Engineering & Physical Sciences Dean, NSU Prof Dr Javed Bari, School of Health & Life Sciences Dean, NSU Prof Dr Hasan Mahmud Reza, directors of various departments, department heads, senior officials, faculties and students were also present on the occasion.
