JU organises Nature Festival

A daylong 'Nature Festival 2018' was held at Jahangirnagar University (JU) campus on Friday.

JU environmentalists' organisation, Natural Conservation Initiative (NCI), organised the festival with the slogan 'Reduce Pollution, Save the Nature' at Jahir Raihan auditorium in the campus.

JU Vice-chancellor Professor Farzana Islam inaugurated the festival as the chief guest while chief advisor of NCI Professor Monwar Hossain Tuhin, Pro-VC Prof Amir Hussain and Treasure Prof Sheikh Md Monzurul Huq were present as special guests.

A colourful rally was brought out at the campus which marched at the main streets of the campus, reports UNB.

Addressing the function, JU VC stressed on the conservation of biodiversity in the environment and urged to keep the nature suitable and safe for the habitat of human beings by reduce pollution by scientific means.

among others, acting Dean of Law and Justice Faculty Professor Bashir Ahmed, Professor Jamal Uddin and Proctor Sikder Zulkarnain spoke at the programme.

Later, a new committee was declared with Rubiya Akter as president and Nurul Islam Saimum as general secretary for the next one year.

The daylong festival was included with inaugural session, poster and project presentation on conservation of nature, idea contest, debate and concluding session.
