A debate team of Independent University of Bangladesh (IUB) has won the United Asian Debating Championship (UADC) 2018 held at Bandung of Indonesia.

Meanwhile, a team of Institute of Business Administration (IBA) of Dhaka University has become the runners-up in the contest.

Both the teams reached the final stage with their extraordinary performances and set up an all Bangladesh Grand finale at a UADC event for the very first time, said a press release.

Aaqib Farhan Hossain, Mahmudul Hasan Nabil and Zobayer Ahmed were in the IUB team.

IBA debate team members were Nawed Nafees, Rayaan Ibtesham Chowdhury, and Kazi Ashfaqul Huq.

IUB's Aaqib Farhan Hossain was named as the “Best Speaker of Open Final” at the Grand Finale recently.

Additionally, Sourodip Paul and Sajid Khandaker (both from IBA) achieved the positions of the 4th and 9th best speakers of UADC 2018 respectively.

Debaters from Bangladesh are consistently performing well in the global arena. Last year a team from IBA won the Asian British Parliamentary (ABP) Debating Championship held at Thailand.

With the recent success at UADC 2018, Bangladesh now holds both of the Asian championships in the debating sector.
