IU suspends section officer for ‘taking bribe’

The authorities of Islamic University in Kushtia suspended one of its section officers temporarily for taking bribe from a student of the university.

The decision was taken at an emergency meeting with IU Vice-Chancellor Professor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari in the chair, sources at IU registrar office said on Thursday morning.

The vice-chancellor issued the suspension order against Moktar Hossain, a section officer of IU Controller of Examinations Section, under the university's Employee Efficiency and Disciplinary Act, said IU acting Registrar SM Abdul Latif.

The university authorities also formed a three-member probe body, headed by English department Professor M Maher Ali to investigate into the matter, UNB reported.

The committee has been asked to submit its report within seven working days.
