Inter-school science fair takes place in Rajshahi

A daylong interschool science fair was held on the Huzrapur High School premises of Godagari upazila in Rajshahi on Sunday aiming to encourage young scientists to come forward to build a science-oriented nation.

“To build science-based atmosphere: Technology is only the way of progress” was the slogan of the fair.

The Centre for Capacity Building of Voluntary Organisation (CCBVO) and Bangladesh Freedom Foundation (BFF) jointly organised the fair with support from the Science Education Development in Secondary Schools Project.

More than 5,000 students from 45 science clubs took part in the fair to showcase their scientific and ICT innovations.

Godagari Upazila chirman Ishaque Ali, BFF executive director Sazzadur Rahman, former registrar of Rajshahi University Prof Abdus Salam, CCBVO president Mozammel Haque, Gogram Union Parishad chairman Mojibur Rahman and headmaster of Huzrapur High School Abul Kalam Azad, among others, spoke at the inaugural session of the fair with president of Aristotle Science Club Kokila Mardy in the chair.

Speaking on the occasion, upazila chirman Ishaque Ali said there is no substitute of flourishing science education in the country and promotion of science and technology has been vital to take the nation forward, reports BSS.

He stressed expanding science education at the doorsteps of both rural and urban students, urging students and others science-oriented people to come forward to build a technology- and knowledge-based nation.
