China's telecommunication giant Huawei, under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme "Seeds for the future", has selected ten youngsters from five renowned Bangladeshi universities.

The selected students are from Dhaka University, Islamic University of Technology, Khulna University of Engineering & Technology, Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology and Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology, respectively.

Senior faculty of respective departments and expert team from Huawei have acted as jury board in each of these selection rounds, reports Xinhua.

The students will be taken to China for exclusive, career-oriented Information and Communications Technology (ICT) training and cultural expedition on second week of next September for two weeks.

The "Seeds for the Future" programme was started in 2008. It has been implemented in 96 countries, regions and international organisations worldwide, benefiting over 30,000 students from 280 universities.

Among them, more than 2,700 university students have taken a study trip to the Huawei headquarters in Shenzhen, southern China.

Jerry Wang, Chief Technical Officer of Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Limited said, "Congratulations to the top ten students who have impressed me with their extraordinary talent. We are extremely delighted to bring 'Seeds for the Future' for the emerging ICT talents of this country."

"The selected students (seeds) will be taken to China to develop their ICT skills, gain practical international work experience, and receive an introduction to Chinese language and culture that will prepare them for an increasingly interconnected global job market," he added.

"I believe, these students will grow and contribute to the making of Digital Bangladesh."
