Govt to set up separate primary education board

The government will to set up a separate primary education board by 2020-21 fiscal year under the Fourth Primary Education Development Programme (PEDP-4).

This was informed at the 47th meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Primary and Mass Education Ministry held at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Tuesday with its chairman Motahar Hossain, MP in the chair, reports UNB citing a handout.

The committee was also informed that the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) will complete printing of textbooks for the 2019 academic year by December 14 next.

At the meeting, the parliamentary watchdog elaborately discussed the five-year project PEDP-4, which will be completed by 2023 focusing mainly on quality education.

Committee members Primary and Mass Education Minister Mostafizur Rahman, AKM Zahangir Hossain, Ali Azam and Mohammed Ellias attended the meeting.


The Primary and Mass Education Secretary and other high officials from the ministry and the parliament secretariat were present at the meeting.
