Freshers get to explore Supply Chain Management at DU

Supply Chain Alliance (SCA), a Dhaka University (DU) based club on supply chain management, has arranged ‘Rookie's Inception 2.0’ for the freshers of the Faculty of Business Studies, DU. 

This event is focused on introducing the newcomers to the faculty to the significance and practical application of supply chain management. It is the first major event held by Supply Chain Alliance after physical classes are resumed. The freshers of the business faculty of the university were eligible to register in this competition.

Before the first round, the participants have got to attend an educational session on Supply Chain Management. Dr Nasrin Akter from DU Marketing led the session as a speaker. She is one of the most prominent supply chain management researchers in Bangladesh. 

Also, Mohammed Zia Uddin, the Head of Supply Chain at Reckitt Benckiser for Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, was present in the session to share practical knowledge about the field. Immediately after the session, the participants were given some quizzes to solve based on the learnings from the session.

Ten different teams consisting of three members with top performers were formed for the second round. In this round, the participants were given two different cases on RMG and FMCG sectors in Bangladesh. 

The teams have presented their solutions online in front of two honourable judges, Md. Tawfiqul Alam Apon and Minhajur Rahman Joy. The participants were assessed for both individual and team performance in this round.

Six teams qualified for the final round. The teams were given a common case on Supply Chain Management. The judges in this round were Mohammed Zia Uddin who was a keynote speaker in the session and Abdullah Al Masud, General Manager of Supply Chain in Akij Resources Ltd. 

Every team in the final round performed well. The first runner-up was the team of Tawhidur Rahman, Niloy Talukder and Lamia Humayra. The team of Riduan Sharif, Abdullah Probal and Fahim Faisal secured the second spot. The team of Ahon Aminul, Asik Dewan and Fardin Ahmed was crowned champion of the competition. 

SCA wishes to create a sustained curiosity among them regarding supply chain management. The club believes that the journey of excellence and leadership can begin through the fresh minds of the Faculty of Business Studies. 

Through Rookie's Inception 2.0, Supply Chain Alliance has tried to help the students learn about supply chain management and relate the understanding with practical life experience to become future leaders.
