Financial modelling competition to gain real-life experience

Alliance Capital presents Blueprints 3.0, a business competition, kicked off with the registration on November 15, 2017. In an attempt to create more eligible finance professionals, NSU Finance Club, a co-curricular club under the department of Accounting and Finance, launched the first session of Blueprints back in 2015, country's first and biggest financial modelling competition.

The third edition of Blueprints started off with workshop one on November 25, 2017 where teams from 13 universities participated and more than 120 teams registered for the country's only competition on financial modelling. The workshop started with a motivational speech from the faculty adviser of the club, Muhammad Nasiruddin, lecturer of department of Accounting and Finance, North South University. He welcomed the participants and talked about the importance of participating in business competitions.

In the first workshop the participants were enlightened regarding some basic financial tools by Rageeb Kibria Gohin, former research mentor at NSU Finance Club.  The participants were given detailed instructions on the first round and regarding the case that were to be solved and submitted online. The workshop was also made more interactive by Khaled Shariar, assistant manager of Alliance Capital Asset Management Limited.

After the first workshop, the participants submitted the case solutions online and from there, after rigorous screening, top 20 teams were selected for the second round of the prestigious competition Blueprints 3.0. 

To make sure that the participants do not face problems regarding the competition, an insightful workshop was conducted on December 02 at NSU premises. In the second workshop, Hasib Anwar, assistant vice president and head of research, Alliance Capital  Asset Management Limited, explained the tasks of second round and also gave valuable insights on how to use the financial tools for the second round.

The second round was a physical round where the teams participated and presented in front of the judges at North South University. The judges hailed from different renowned financial institutions and assessed the participants on their findings based on the case that were provided to them.

After an interesting second round, top seven teams will participate in the grand finale of Alliance Capital Presents Blueprints 3.0 that is going to take place at North South University on December 17. The teams are from North South University, BRAC University, United International University and the Institute of Business Administration, Dhaka University.

These top seven teams will be fighting to snatch the title of champion, first runner-up and second runner-up. The champion team will receive Tk 2,00,000 as prize money and Tk 1,00,000 and Tk 50,000 for the first runner-up and second runner-up respectively.
