Fifth 'Ispahani Mirzapore Banglabid' competition opens for students

The fifth edition of the Ispahani Mirzapore Banglabid, a reality competition series, was inaugurated at a press conference on Tuesday.

The motto of the competition is to enhance the use of the Bengali language and culture among youngsters. 

Registration to enter the competition is open for students across the country from Dec 21 to Jan 19, 2023, said the organisers at the press conference held at the Channel I building in the capital.

Ispahani Mirzapore, country's popular tea brand, is organising this competition.

Vice chancellor of Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University Dr Soumitra Shekhar, author Anisul Haque, and media personality Tropa Majumder will judge the competition.

Director General of Bangla Academy Muhammad Nurul Huda inaugurated the competition as the chief guest.

The programme was presided over by Channel I Managing Director Faridur Reza Sagar.

Directors of the Ispahani group Zahida Ispahani and Emaad Ispahani were present at the press conference.

Dr Soumitra Shekhar said the competition is inspiring students across the country to learn Bengali as a language more accurately, and the competition is promoting the practice and use of correct Bengali, including language, spelling, and grammar.

The event has been running since 2017 with the vow to spread the practice of pure Bengali to the new generation with the slogan 'Banglay Jago Bhorpur'.

The fourth annual event, however, could not be completed even after starting in 2020 due to the spread of the corona virus in the country.

Considering the huge interest of children, teenagers, and parents across the country, Ispahani Tea Limited has decided to start 'Ispahani Mirzapore Banglabid' once again, they said.

The main objective of this competition is to find the best blend of personas skilled in the Bengali language, and spelling and uses other strata of Bengali grammar.

Participants will have to go through several different selection processes and only those with a deep interest in becoming modern-day language fighters are encouraged to register.

The first three winners will get Tk 1.0 million, 0.3 million and 0.2 million, respectively. Also, the first 10 winners will receive a laptop along with Bengali books and a bookshelf worth Tk 50,000 taka each to create his/her own library, according to the organisers.

Initially, students of classes 6 to 10 across the country will take part in the competition. The primary audition will take place in eight divisional cities and Comilla.

After primary selection, selected participants will be brought to Dhaka for the studio round and they will compete against each other on the rounds to prove their competency in the Bengali language.

Later, this contest will be telecasted on Channel-i. Final winners will be selected after 20 different episodes of exciting competitions. An experienced judges' panel consisting of Bengali language and culture experts will be actively involved in the entire process.
