Embargo on mobile in IU convocation, viva-voce Jan 10

Islamic University (IU) imposed restrictions on carrying electronic devices during ensuing convocation and announced to hold viva-voce for first-year honours admission seekers from waiting lists on January 10.

The 4th convocation is scheduled to be held on January 7 when carrying all kinds of electronic devices, including mobile phone, will remain prohibited.

The university authorities said the decision was taken on security ground.

IU proctor Professor Dr M Mahbubar Rahman said a stall will be set up for safe storing of the participants’ devices.

Meanwhile, IU acting registrar SM Abdul Latif said a total of 706 seats out of 2,275 are still vacant at 33 departments of the public university.

A total of 14 seats are still vacant at ‘A’ unit while 231 at ‘B’ unit, 109 at ‘C’ unit, 73 at ‘D’ unit, 39 at ‘E’ unit, 39 at ‘F’ unit, 99 at ‘G’ unit and 95 at ‘H’ unit, he added.
