Edutechs raises pre-seed round of $ 100K

Edutechs has raised USD 100,000 in its pre-seed round. It is the latest in the string of edtech startups to receive investment financing in the last few years.

The investment round is led by serial investor Mohammad Maaz who has also invested in startups like Gaze, Chaya, Markpolo.ai, Zingo, and Loox. Next is entrepreneur and industrialist F. K.  Md Emdad Khan who operates the ‘Afroze-Azam Khan Jute Mills.’ Other strategic seed investors and a few mentors have also played a significant role in helping Edutechs secure the international funding.

Mission of Edutechs

Edutechs aims to bring futuristic advanced learning technology to every classroom in Bangladesh. They want to automate education-related administrative tasks so that teachers and students can focus on the single most important thing - learning.

Edutechs was a Top 5 Finalist at the ‘She Loves Tech’ competition as well. They had also received a grant of Tk 1 million from the Databird Launchpad competition.

Founding story of Edutechs

Edutechs was founded by Mohammad Ekram in 2019. At that time, he was an undergrad student of EEE at the University of Manchester. There he noticed that digital education was booming in the international market. Students were already adapted to using different LMS software at ease which enhanced their quality of learning.

On the other hand, students in Bangladesh lagged far behind. They were still stuck in the traditional manual learning with outdated syllabus. The students did not even know that education could be digitized which could introduce a paradigm shift in their learning experience.

Motivated by his passion for education and coding, Ekram talked to several teachers and students in Bangladesh to explore this problem and find a solution. Thus, Edutechs was born.

Sharing his vision and patriotism, other co-founders joined Ekram in their mission to digitize every classroom in the country. Ekram is the CEO and Founder who completed his Bachelors and Masters in EEE from the University of Manchester.

Farhim Warith Zaman, a graduate of Penn State University with more than 6 years’ experience in Cyber Security Consulting and Information Technology Business, is the Chief Business Officer.

Nafis Abrar, a graduate of Computer Science from University of British Columbia who has more than 4 years of software engineering experience and was selected as one of the 300 out of 1200+ early career ML researchers at Canadian Institute for Advanced Research School, is the Chief Technology Officer.

Future plans with the investment funds

Within just one year, Edutechs has already onboarded more than 300 teachers and over 10,000 students in its platform. Moreover, they are also collaborating with 35+ educational institutes.

With this fund, Edutechs aims to launch an app that will support more teachers and students to become a part of their digital revolution in education.

“Our aim is to make education in Bangladesh have a world class standard so the best and brightest of the country study here and stay here pushing the country to become a world player,” said Mr Ekram.

Mr Farhim added, “We are making a ‘Made in Bangladesh’ Edtech SaaS solution, for Bangladesh and Beyond.”
