DUEDC offers training for aspiring young entrepreneurs

The first time in its history, Dhaka University Entrepreneurship Development Club (DUEDC), is organising an eight-day long ‘Virtual Training Program’ for the young aspiring entrepreneurs. BRAC Bank presents ‘Shut UP & START UP’ is calling for individuals to think out of the box and mark their steps towards the start-up industry.

When enthusiastic entrepreneurs march on the start-up world, they often face obstacles continuing their operations such as sourcing finance, cash flow management, marketing strategy, planning budget and many more which can be demotivating sometimes. Hence, DUEDC has come up with the training programme to tackle these obstacles and construct a pathway to initiate. The event is starting from December 17, 2020.

The programme will be conducted in two different stages. First is the ‘Entrepreneurs Training’ stage which will continue till December 24, 2020. In the first two sessions, young business-minded people will know about developing a business model, fundraising, forming a partnership, and recruiting employees to run an organisation. The next segments will cover dealing with customer satisfaction, basics of branding, entrepreneurial toolkits for market analysis, and designing fundamentals for entrepreneurs. In the last two days of the virtual training, young entrepreneurs will gain expertise on how to build an effective supply chain for a business venture and receive insights upon Product Prototype Building.

The second stage is the ‘Online Pitching Competition’ where the participants will get the opportunity to showcase their start-up ideas in front of a well-established entrepreneurial judge panel and a handsome amount of prize money will be awarded to the most brilliant team or individual. Additionally, the best female group will be rewarded under the special category by BRAC Bank TARA.

Dr Rafiuddin Ahmed, associate professor at University of Dhaka and the moderator of DUEDC expressed optimism that such an event will be very helpful for the future entrepreneurs. “The eight-day long interactive session will support future entrepreneurs by providing a complete guideline to build a successful start-up and inspire them which is the main motive of this club,” he said. He also stated that one main objective of the programme is to promote female entrepreneurship in Bangladesh.

The real-life benefits gaining through this virtual training session is immense. The most important one is knowing the legitimate business challenges while starting one’s own business venture and acquiring hands-on training from a panel of experts. Furthermore, gaining various expertise for increasing competency and knowing the strategies to stand-out a business model into a global brand are the crucial segments which participants will successfully inherit within themselves by the end of the programme.

Being one of the largest clubs of the University of Dhaka, DUEDC mainly focuses on empowering students to become social entrepreneurs by instilling the basics of business strategy and the way of starting and sustaining an organisation in a competitive market.
