The syndicate of Dhaka University (DU) permanently expelled 15 students on charges of gaining admission to the university through fraudulent methods, while also alleging their involvement in admission test fraud in different sessions.
The decision was taken on Tuesday at the university syndicate’s meeting, said Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Akhtaruzzaman.
“On Jan 4 the disciplinary committee suggested expelling these students for adopting unfair means in the admission test and involvement in admission test fraud. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID of police) strong evidence against them connected with admission fraud,” said VC.
“After investigation of all proof provides by CID and disciplinary committee, the syndicate meeting finalised the decision to expel them,” he added.
The expelled students are: Navid Anjum Tonoy of Geography & Environment Department, Md Mohiuddin Rana of Physics, Abdullah Al Mamun of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Technology, Nahid Iftekhar and Md Rifat Hossain of Political Science, Md Biazid of Psychology, Md Azizul Hakim of World Religion & Culture, Prosenjit Das of Sanskrit, Fardin Ahmed Sabbir of Health Economics, Md Tanvir Ahmed Mallik of Economics; Rafsan Karim of Islamic Studies; Anisur Rahman Anik of Bengali, T M Tanvir Hasnien of History, Munshi Md Sujaur Rahman of Education & Research and Nazmul Hasan Nayem of Pali & Buddhist Study department, reports UNB.
