The students of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) on Monday blocked roads at a crucial intersection in the capital protesting an alleged attack on them.

Hundreds of BUET students blocked a road near Palashi intersection around 2 pm claiming they were attacked by some Dhaka University on Oct 27 students and to press home their eight-point demand.

Vehicular movement in the road was halted for at least two and a half hours due to their protest.

The protesters also demanded making the campus drug-free, restricting the entrance of outsiders and installation of CCTV camera from Bakshibazar to Palashi intersection area, says a report on UNB.

Later, around 4:30 pm they withdrew the blockade and said demonstration will continue until authorities meet their demands.

Earlier, on Friday night at least five students were injured in a clash between the activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), Zahurul Haque hall unit of Dhaka University (DU) and Titumir Hall unit of BUET following an altercation over taking drugs on Thursday night.
