BCL attacks JCD procession at IU

The Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists attacked a rally of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on Saturday.

The attack was launched with sharp weapons and sticks, leaving three JCD activists injured.

According to locals, JCD activists were trying to bring out a procession protesting the arrest of their central general secretary Akramul Hasan near the university area around7:00 am.

Later, some 100 BCL activists, led by its IU unit secretary Jewel Rana Halim, made the attack on the JCD activists.

JCD's IU unit president Omar Faruk said the injured JCD activists; Kamrul Islam, Mahbub Rahman and Ullash; took primary treatment at a local hospital.

BCL's IU unit secretary Jewel Rana Halim claimed that JCD men were trying to create anarchy on the campus.

"BCL just resisted the JCD activists," he added.

In-charge of IU Police Outpost Raton Sheikh said the situation is now under control, reports UNB.
