‘Actions against teachers for using phones in classroom’

Strict actions will be taken against teachers who use mobile phone in classrooms as per a directive issued by Education Ministry three years ago.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid told this to the parliament on Thursday.

"If we find information that any teacher uses mobile phone in the classroom, we'll take action," he said replying to a supplementary question from Awami League MP Shamsul Haque Chowdhury.

The minister said they have already taken actions against some teachers in this regard as per directive.

Nahid also urged people to lodge complaints against the malpractice by the teachers to the authorities concerned, says a UNB report.

He said the government has brought the leakage of question papers and coaching business under control to some extent through different measures, in reply to a question from AL MP Fazilatun Nasa Bappy.

The minister also said coaching business can be fully stopped if the proposed bill in this regard gets parliament’s nod.

On the other hand, Primary and Mass Education Minister Mostafizur Rahman told the House that the government will be able to complete repairing work of all rundown primary school buildings, including those were damaged by flood, before June 2018.
