Sixty three students of Dhaka University have received the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award for their outstanding success in completion of different self-development activities.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation recognised their accomplishments with awards under its categories of Bronze and Silver at the university on Monday, according to a media statement.

Sue Walker, Asia Pacific regional director of the Foundation, attended the function as chief guest, and Rizwan Bin Farouq, chairman of the country’s executive committee, as guest of honour.

Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman, vice-chancellor of Dhaka University, and Mahjabeen Haque, award coordinator and director (students counselling and guidance office) were also present.

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award (DEA) was introduced in Bangladesh in 2008, initiating a movement for personal development for the youths in the country.
