The Power Division under the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, or MPEMR, has implemented 94.40 per cent of project work under the Annual Development Programme, or ADP, in the last fiscal year, 2019-20.
A total of Tk 246.26 billion was allocated to implement a total of 104 power sector projects during the previous fiscal.
This was disclosed at an evaluation meeting on the power sector projects of the last fiscal on Sunday.
Speaking at the virtual meeting, state minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid expressed satisfaction at the implementation of the projects considering the Covid-19 pandemic.
He said the remaining work could be done by December next.
Mr Hamid also expressed the hope that the Power Division will be able to implement 100 per cent of project work in the current FY 2020-21 and sought allout cooperation from the employees of the power sector entities in this connection.
A total of 87 projects got listed for allocation in the current ADP, of which 34 are high-priority ones, 26 medium-priority and 27 are low-priority projects as per the Ministry of Finance.
Power Division secretary Dr Sultan Ahmed, Bangladesh Power Development Board, or BPDB, chairman Md Belayet Hossain, Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board, or BREB, chairman Major General (retd) Moin Uddin anf Power Cell director general Mohammad Hossain took part in the discussion.
