The central bank has removed NRB Commercial Bank’s Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dewan Mujibur Rahman on charges of violating rules and regulations in sanctioning loans.
Following the removal, he will be barred from entering any banking job for next two years.
Subhankar Saha, spokesperson of the Bangladesh Bank (BB), told the FE, “We’ve removed the NRB Commercial Bank’s MD with imposition of embargo on his taking employment, directly or indirectly, at any bank for a period of two years.”
Mr. Saha, also the Executive Director of the BB, said the central bank has already sent the order to the authorities concerned of the bank for taking necessary action in this connection.
BB Governor Fazle Kabir has issued the order as per recommendations of the central bank standing committee.
