The income tax zone in Khulna received a massive response from the individual taxpayers in the current fiscal year as the record numbers of return submission and revenue collection had been made.
On Sunday, Khulna income tax zone officials said that they received over 146,000 returns and over 29,000 petitions of time extension from the tax payers till November 30, which was the last day of return submission for individual taxpayers in the fiscal year 2017-18.
The zone collected Tk 779 million income tax till November 30, 2017, a climb of TK 106.9 million compared to the previous year, when Tk 672.1 million was collected, they said, adding 336,844 tax payers have been registered with an Electronic Tax Identification Number (e-TIN).
Deputy Commissioner of Khulna Zone Abu Nasar Md Mahabub-uz-Zaman told BSS they got a very good response from taxpayers this year.
"For encouraging taxpayers, we have taken various steps, such as introducing Tax ID Card, organising tax fairs and Tax Week at 22 circle office in 10 districts under Khulna Division," he said.
