IMF team meets MoC secy

A delegation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) met Senior Secretary of Ministry of Commerce (MoC) Tapan Kanti Ghosh at his secretariat office in the capital on Sunday.

The delegation met him to know about the government's preparedness for Bangladesh's graduation from a least developed country (LDC) in 2026.

The delegation members also wanted to know how the government is taking preparations, as the country's export earnings may decline in this fiscal year because of high global inflationary pressure and volatile exchange rates between the greenback and the local currency.

Mr. Ghosh briefed them about the government's preparations on the LDC graduation as well as diversification of markets and products to face the volatile export scenario.

The MoC senior secretary also said he did not discuss about any financial assistance with the IMF officials during the meeting.

Rahul Anand, division chief of the IMF's Asia and Pacific Department, led the delegation.
